Denhay introduces nitrite-free bacon at Tesco
Denhay launches its first nitrite-free bacon range at 570 Tesco stores on 21 September, offering smoked and unsmoked back varieties at £4 each.

The Devon-based producer of hand dry-cured meats will introduce its first Made Without Nitrites range in 570 Tesco locations on Monday, 21 September. This marks the company’s return to the retailer after an extended absence.
Product details and pricing
The new lineup includes two 200-gram varieties: smoked back and unsmoked back, both positioned under the brand’s clean-label commitment. Each pack will retail for £4.00, with Tesco Clubcard members receiving a 25% introductory discount during the initial weeks of availability.
Manufacturing and promotional strategy
The products are made using a proprietary curing method that has earned a Royal Warrant. All pork is sourced from 100% Outdoor Bred and RSPCA Assured suppliers, with some batches undergoing natural beechwood smoking during the air-drying process.

To support the launch, the brand will collaborate with food influencers and debut The Denhay Kitchen, a quarterly magazine featuring seasonal recipes and product updates.
For shoppers prioritizing transparency in their purchases, the new range offers a straightforward alternative to traditional cured meats without premium pricing. The company’s managing director, who joined in July 2025, has assembled a leadership team that now includes a head of new product development, hired from a major supermarket competitor, as well as dedicated heads of sales and marketing.
Future plans involve expanding both the producer’s core brand and its Spoilt Pig line into additional retail channels. Further retail listings are expected as the range rolls out.
